Food tours – Tel Aviv's markets, people, and delicious food
In recent years, Tel Aviv's culinary scene has become an integral part of Israeli culture, offering endless delicious experiences, from chef-prepared meals to food tours. Today's Tel Aviv is undoubtedly Israel's culinary capital, which explains why food tours have become an attraction that is not to be missed.
Food tour or tasting tour in Tel Aviv?
When choosing which tour to join, it is worth checking in advance whether it is a tasting tour or a full-fledged food tour. Tel Aviv offers many delicious options, where you can sample a bite here and there and move on. Therefore, it is worth checking whether you will leave the tour feeling truly full, or whether you should plan on having lunch or dinner afterwards.
Tips for choosing culinary tours in Tel Aviv
Beyond the issue of hunger and tastings, there are a few points you should check before signing up:
The guides – they don't have to be culinary authorities, as long as they know the most interesting stories and connect the participants to the history and culture of the place.
Location – Successful tours focus on areas with an abundance of food and interesting stories, such as the Hatikva Market, Carmel, Levinsky, and Jaffa.
The innovations – It is worth finding a tour that is suitable even for those who are sure they know every corner of the market, one that will introduce them to hidden places, fascinating stories, and interesting people.
Flexibility – Some tours can be adapted for vegans or those who avoid gluten, so that all friends and family members can participate.
Kosher – If there are kosher individuals in the group, it is important to ensure that the tour is kosher or at least kosher-style, without mixing meat and milk or offering pork.
Giraffe – Culinary Tours in Tel Aviv
At Giraffe, we are passionate about food and Tel Aviv culture, and our passion is to introduce you to the most interesting places and people in the city. If you love to eat (who doesn't?) and want to discover the hidden cultural and culinary secrets of Jaffa and its markets, join our guides, who know every corner and every delicious bite. We have created four food tours for you: in the Hatikva Market, the Carmel Market, the Levinsky Market, and the Flea Market—each one a world unto itself, full of people, flavors, aromas, and stories. Our tours are kosher, vegan, gluten-free, and environmentally friendly.
No matter what age you are or what your group is like, we promise you a taste of the old and the new, the well-known places and those hidden away in the alleys, and of course lots of delicious food and fine Israeli wine. In other words, come hungry!
Throughout the tour, chilled and refreshing white wine from the Tulip Winery will be served.
For all vegans, vegetarians, and gluten-sensitive individuals, we have taken care to find excellent substitutes on every tour. Not every stop will offer everything, but no stomach will go home empty.
All of our tours are Kosher Style — meaning we only eat kosher dishes (no seafood, no pork, and no meat with milk). We also do not return to dairy after eating meat. Those interested in a tour where all stops are Kosher certified are welcome to join a tour of the Hatikva Market, Mahane Yehuda Market, or Carmel Market in its Kosher version.
Sure! Don't tell anyone, but in English our tour sounds much better.
The maximum number of participants per group is 20. If there are more employees, we will arrange for an additional guide and the groups will depart in stages.
In case of rain, the tour can be postponed to another date at no extra cost with 48 hours' notice, or moved to the covered Hatikva Market, which can be visited even during heavy rain.
We recommend checking them all out and deciding for yourself 😊
